Questions

Which part of Tenerife should I stay in?

Most resort hotels are on the south and west coasts: Costa Adeje for the bigger hotels and the Playa del Duque and Fañabé beaches, Playa de las Américas for nightlife, Los Cristianos for a town beach and the ferry to La Gomera, and Los Gigantes for the cliffs. The north is greener, with Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava and Garachico for older towns and gardens. Santa Cruz and La Laguna suit a city break.

How is this guide different from a booking site?

It covers every hotel on Tenerife that Expedia sells, grouped by resort and by what you need, with photographs of each. Every page says what the hotel is like, who it suits and, where a primary source supports it, the catch. The order of a list is never a ranking.

Does it cost more to book through this site?

No. The price is set by Expedia or the hotel, never by this site. Links to Expedia carry a tracking code so the guide is paid a commission, at no cost to you.

Which airport is closer?

Tenerife South (TFS) is the closer airport for the southern resorts: Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje are roughly 15 to 25 minutes away by road. Tenerife North (TFN) is the closer one for Santa Cruz, La Laguna and Puerto de la Cruz. Every hotel page gives the drive time to both.

Where do the prices come from?

From Expedia: the lowest rate it showed for two adults on a set date, as an average per night, with the date and the number of nights under each price. Rates change daily, so check your own dates before you book.
